Top 25: Fall 2018
And just like that, it’s the very last day of 2018.
This year was a whirlwind for many reasons, some good and some not so good. It feels like so much has happened, both within the world of music and far beyond. Things that happened just this year feel like forever ago - remember the Winter Olympics? Yeah, those happened in 2018.
A big part of that what-the-f*ck-has-happened feeling is of course due to the wealth of information at our fingertips at all times, and an ever increasing news cycle that drops a new headline every 5 minutes. It’s tiring and overwhelming and hard to keep up with.
The same can be said about the state of music. My dream world is one where I’m constantly discovering new music and have access to any music I could possibly want to listen to, which is pretty much the state of things in 2018. But even I started to feel the fatigue with the sheer volume of music out there. I guess my dream world also gives me an extra day of the week to surf the Interwebs and listen to tunes. Cosmos, take note.
Which is precisely why I’ve loved recapping my top songs season by season for you for the past month. It’s forced me to reflect on the past year before moving onto the next new thing, and made me get cozy with the songs I love the most.
As you’ll quickly notice, Fall 2018 was absolutely dominated by women - notably Robyn’s Honey and Empress Of’s Us who reigned over my rotation for the majority of the last few months. Fall brought me some of my absolute favorite music of the year, so I’m thrilled to send 2018 off with Lineup #224.
Thanks for another year of music together. <3
