Still Processing Podcast - "We Heard Lauryn Hill, But Did We Listen?"

This month marks the 20th anniversary of Ms. Lauryn Hill's seminal debut solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. I wasn't too young to know how much of a bop songs like "Doo Wop (That Thing)" and "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" were, but my 9-year-old self certainly didn't understand the nuances of Lauryn's message and her struggle with fame - a disease that has afflicted many of our most beloved artists.

That's why I'm ever so grateful that my two favorite writers slash podcasters Jenna Wortham and Wesley Morris of NYT's Still Processing dedicated an entire episode to unpacking Ms. Hills meteoric rise to fame, what resulted after the fact, and, just like Season 2 of Dissect, how we might want to treat artists like her with much more empathy.
