U.S. Girls - in A Poem Unlimited
Black Panther: The Album
My latest obsession? U.S. Girls' latest album in A Poem Unlimited. As The Guardian writes, "It’s protest music, in the guise of joyous, life-affirming pop". Could anything be more on point?
Khruangbin - Con Todo El Mundo
Marvel's The Black Panther came out last week, and the Kendrick Lamar / TDE curated soundtrack is off the charts, featuring the likes of TML favorites SZA, James Blake, Anderson .Paak, Vince Staples, Jorja Smith and of course Kendrick himself.
Sidney Gish - No Dogs Allowed
I can't get enough of Khruangbin's instrumental psych-rock. On their sophomore LP, Con Todo El Mundo, released last week, weaves funk, surf rock, groovy bass lines and even some Latin flavor into 42 minutes of pure magic and a quick and easy vacation to better places. Trust me on this one.
Sufjan Stevens - The Greatest Gift
My first official favorite album of 2018! Lyrical genius and low-fi, catchy DIY pop tunes from a 20-year old Boston college student. Listen to the track "I Eat Salad Now" on Lineup #174, or check out the full album wherever you stream your music.
Alvvays - Antisocialites
When a new album release truly embodies it's album title...
Late Night With Seth Meyers - Father John Misty Interview
It's not new, but I've had Alvvays' 2nd LP Antisocialites on repeat after seeing them play the Fillmore in SF last Tuesday.
Alvvays - Dreams Tonite (Video)
Father John Misty is on a perpetual press tour and I will continue to eat it up until it ends. I'm also seeing him play the Greek Theater this weekend, so it's apropos that FJM finds himself again on TML.
Dissect Podcast - Season 2
I watched this video shortly after returning from a trip to Montreal that I loved so much I professed that I was going to move there, so obviously I was feeling the retro, French-canadian vibes.
On each episode of Dissect Season 2 Host (and personal hero) Cole Cuchna "dissects" an individual track on Kanye West's seminal album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (Season 1 was Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly). Cuchna takes an almost academic approach to exploring this album, but it's far from dry.
